About Me
One of the Lee jeans commercials on TV instructs viewers to "Find your one true fit."
The commercial touts this pair of jeans as the one a person searches for all of his
or her life. Like finding the right jeans, choosing a profession to dedicate the
rest of your life to plays a huge role in defining one's authentic self. My heart
is tied to pursuing, encouraging, and serving children with special needs. All my
years of school, valuable experiences, and strong relationships are shaping me into
the person I am becoming, and my commitment to Special Education continues to grow
stronger.
Before attending college in Anderson, Indiana, I spent my childhood in Decatur, Alabama.
I have two very loving parents, as well as, one twin sister and a younger brother.
At home I have always felt supported in my educational decisions and the dreams I have
chosen to pursue. I hope to instill in my students this same reassurance and
encouragement by providing a safe and nurturing environment that motivates students
to become life-long learners.
My twin sister and I are the oldest siblings in the family,
and although we are both
Education majors, I found that we desire to impact children into two completely
different ways. My heart is in the mission of Special Education programs. It's about
meeting students at their needs and providing them with the curriculum and resources
needed to best learn those critical skills that will help them become successful
citizens in society. Each day I find ways to pour encouragement into young people.
We all have tough days, but I find joy in everything I do.
In my free time I enjoy bike riding, reading, traveling to new places, building
relationships with people, journaling, and enjoying God's creation outside. I also
find myself investing a lot of my time in photography because I believe it allows
us to glimpse what life really is without the walls we build to hide what we don't
want to see or choose not to. I love to encourage and empower young kids to do
things they love doing, whether its photography, swimming, or math problems.
